Here’s the article I wrote for it:

Wonderlust

All those who wonder are not lost.

This is the hopeful conclusion I have come to after several years of “wandering” through a personal journey, one of which many of my family members and well meaning friends had considered aimless meandering. Not surprisingly so, as it started the moment I graduated. I had tried everything from making coffee to making movies, changing jobs almost every six months. Pursuing whatever happened to fancy my interest, my so-called life seemed more like I had been attempting to complete a bucket list rather than pursuing a sensible career. Random and unplanned as it may have seemed, I was delighted to find that in remaining faithful to pursuing what fueled my passions and imagination would serendipitously lead me to a fulfilling, albeit unconventional lifestyle where I get to travel, create artworks and believe it or not, be a mermaid for a living.

These experiences were the driving force behind this collection of works which I have entitled, Wonderlust, which is simply about allowing oneself the freedom to indulge in whatever inspires a sense of wonderment. I consider travel and art as two forces that both inspire and are inspired by wonder and fascination. Art entices us explore the worlds of imagination within ourselves, while travel invites us to discover the world that surrounds us. Whether our journey takes us inward or outward, approaching it with a sense of wonder, playfulness and openness to whatever we may discover along the way makes it all the more worthwhile.

Reflections of memories and desires, these imaginary landscapes and creatures float along the borders of reality and whimsy, the birthplace of dreams. They tell stories about a hopeful sailor venturing into curiosity and possibility, they show the dance of the heart, and the bias of words and sight. They reveal the birth of immortal memories sprouting from the mind and a creature who evolves into a new beginning. Tracing the ether is the omnipresent compass that guides hearts and hopes. It is a constant reassurance that in pursuing our truest desires, the ones that keep our hearts burning with an inexplicable sense of wonder, one is never truly lost.
